The new Notebook 9, available in 13-inch and 15-inch variants, have been completely restyled from previous year, opting for a more traditional block design versus the blade-like design of the first-generation of Notebook 9. He further added, "We're excited to expand our PC portfolio with a premium gaming solution featuring refinements in design, cutting-edge technology and enhanced gaming usability".
Personally I'm a fan of Samsung notebooks, and their Chromebooks haven't failed me, so I will be checking these out for sure!
Samsung has finally entered the gaming laptop segment and made this move well-known at the floor show of CES 2017 in Las Vegas, by unveiling its very first gaming laptop.
Samsung also showcased the Notebook Odyssey, a gaming laptop available in 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch models.
As with the more mass-market friendly Notebook 9, the Notebook Odyssey gaming laptops make do with Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake Core i7 processors. The 15.6-inch model pairs the CPU with up to 32GB of DDR4 memory, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU, and up to 256GB PCIe SSD + 1TB HDD storage.
The biggest selling point of the 17.3-inch notebook is that it provides support for Thunderbolt 3 through a Type-C USB connection. Graphics will also presumably get an upgrade over the 15.6-inch model, though Samsung has not yet decided exactly which GPU to roll with just yet.
To keep temperatures down, Samsung has employed a cooling system called HexaFlow in which the bottom panel of each notebook largely consists of perforated cooling vents.
It really says something that we knew Samsung would have one of the lightest notebooks at CES 2017 and we were still blown away.
On the specifications front, the Samsung Notebook 9 features a 15-inch FHD display with 250nit brightness and 178-degree viewing angle.
The Notebook Odyssey has both a 15 and 17-inch configuration.
In terms of specs, the 17.3 inch model comes with up to up to 512GB PCIE SSD + 1TB HDD, up to 64GB DDR4 Single Memory Door and Dual SSD + HDD, Triple storage. The 15-inch weighs 5.6 lb (2.53 kg), while the 17-inch laptop weighs 8.4 lb (3.79kg).
