Samsung All Set To launch Gear S3 Variants In India

Samsung India today unveiled the Gear S3, another innovative smartwatch in the company's wearable category. Both smartwatches launched at last year's IFA event in Berlin with Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. While the Classic should appeal to those looking for a more minimalistic design, the Frontier has been designed for users with more active lifestyles. The new smartwatch is priced at Rs 28,500 and will be available from 18th January onwards in the country.

Coming to the devices, the Frontier model of Gear S3 comes with a rugged outdoor look, while the Classic variant of the smartwatch has a more refined appearance. The company has brought both the variants to India.

The smartwatch allows users to accept or reject call, snooze alarm without touching the screen.

The Samsung Gear S3 smartwatches feature an 1.3-inch (360x360 pixels) always-on display Super AMOLED tech and Gorilla Glass SR+ protection, IP68 dust and water resistance, built-in Global Positioning System, as well as a built-in speaker.


The Gear S3 features a 1.3-inch circular Super AMOLED display with a 360x360p resolution at 278ppi. The dial is carved out of jewellery-grade 360L stainless steel. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor.

The Gear S3 Classic comes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, whereas there "Frontier" version supports LTE, along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The new Tizen-based smartwatches, which went on sale last November in the United States, can be pre-ordered through online and offline channels from today.

The Frontier model of Gear S3 comes with a cellular radio chip that allows the smartwatch to connect to high-speed 4G mobile networks. It draws power from a 380 mAh battery that is capable of lasting for almost 3 to 4 days days being on usage. The Gear S3 is compatible with all Android smartphones running Android 4.4.4 and upwards with 1.5GB+ RAM with support.
