Raptors Kyle Lowry To Undergo Wrist Surgery; Likely Out Until The Playoffs

Toronto will now rely even heavier on Lowry's fellow backcourt All-Star, DeMar Derozan.

Lowry missed both of the Raptors' games since the All-Star Game with the sore wrist.

The Toronto Raptors, who beat the Celtics in their first game back from the All-Star break last Friday, looked poised to make Boston's quest to finish as the East's "best team not from Cleveland" a hard task.

Kyle Lowry To Undergo Wrist Surgery, Hopes To Be Back For Playoffs

Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is set to undergo wrist surgery to remove loose bodies from his right wrist, and he's aiming to return for the playoffs. Did Lowry hurt his wrist in a glorified exhibition in New Orleans last weekend?

However, Lowry has missed Toronto's two games following the break, including a big win on Friday over the Boston Celtics. With a three-game lead over the Wizards and Raptors for second place, the Celtics own a bit of cushion with 23 games left.

Anything could still happen over the rest of the regular season, but, for now, the Celtics look likely to avoid the Cavaliers side of the bracket. Originally breaking into the league as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, Lowry was selected in the first-round of the 2006 NBA Draft out Villanova.
