Ryan Gosling Lookalike Pulls Off Epic Prank on Live Awards Show

The freakish occurrence left actual stars in attendance like Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell visibly confused, and it wasn't clear at first whether it was a gimmick put on by the award show.

The Goldene Kamera awards made a decision to do just that, and when the host Steven Gaetjen announced that Ryan Gosling would be coming to the stage those in attendance assumed that's who they'd be seeing.

He declares "I'm Ryan Gosling" before dedicating the gong to Joko and Klass - two German comedians who were behind the stunt. "Men hold onto your wives, and wives hold onto your men. Here is the one and only, Ryan Gosling!". "There is a saying in Hamburg, which is, 'bye, bye!'" The incident resulted in the host having to explain to a bewildered crowd that there had been a mix up.

He then turns and walks off as the audience look on in astonishment.

It later transpired that German comedians Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf were to thank for the hoax, with the pair setting up a fake agency and contacting the show's organisers to tell them that Hollywood star Ryan would appear at the show if they guaranteed that he'd win something.

It was later discovered that he was actually a chef from Munich named Ludwig Lehner. According to a video the jokesters posted to YouTube, they came up the scheme as a way of claiming a Golden Camera award for their show. They reportedly promised that the Canadian actor would attend if he won an award.

The error was corrected and Moonlight was announced as the award victor only after the cast and crew of La La Land had taken to the stage to receive their award and give their acceptance speech.

The organizers agreed, but the pranksters insisted that Gosling would prefer to skip the red carpet and that he would also prefer not to sit with the audience.
