A Greenwich resident, he is ranked 92nd globally with a net worth of $13 billion.

Forbes on Monday released its 31st Annual World's Billionaires List, with 2,043 billionaires in the rankings, with an average net worth of $3.75 billion.

Other notable newcomers to the list include: Australian Manny Stul, whose toy company created the popular Shopkins collectibles; American Yvon Chouinard, the founder of outdoor gear maker Patagonia; and Juan Francisco Beckmann Vidal of Mexico, who is chairman of tequila maker Jose Cuervo.

Bezos, 53, has topped additional Forbes' lists, including its Most Powerful People (No.14 in 2016) and its Richest in Tech list (No.2 in 2016).

And Amazon's Jeff Bezos jumped from fifth to third after adding $27.6 billion to his fortune, giving him a net worth of $72.8 billion. He has a fortune of $86 billion, up from $75 billion previous year, while Warren Buffett ranks No. 2 with $75.6 billion.

"40 percent of Donald Trump's fortune is tied up in Trump tower and eight buildings within one mile of it", Forbes explained.

Irsay, 57, saw his net worth rise from $2.3 billion to $2.5 billion, but his position on the list dropped from 771st to 814th.

The U.S. continues to have more billionaires than any other nation, with a record 565. For the second year running France's Liliane Bettencourt, the L'Oreal cosmetics heiress, was the world's wealthiest woman with a $39.5bn net worth. "Lately, the neighbourhood has been struggling (relatively speaking)", Forbes said.

Forbes also said Trump's wealth was hit by $66 million in political spending on his successful presidential campaign, as well as $25 million to settle litigation he allegedly ripped off students at Trump University.

Notable newcomers included Vietnam's first self-made woman billionaire, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, who took her budget airline, VietJet Air, public in February 2017. He ranked 717th on the latest list, down from 612th a year ago.

But not all of the trends were negative for Mr Trump.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates leads the list for the fourth year in a row, with a fortune of $86 billion, $11 billion more than last year.
