I am happy at Chelsea - Antonio Conte

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has dismissed stories linking him with a return to Italy this summer.

The Chelsea head coach had been linked with a move away by members of the media in Italy, who suggested that he wished to take over at Inter Milan.

Arguably more disruptive might have been the constant suggestions back home, fuelled most recently by the Italian agent Federico Pastorello, a friend of Conte's, that the manager's spell in English football could prove short-lived.

But Conte said: "Andrea Pirlo is playing and he wants to continue to play".

Conte said at the time: "I'm pleased for this visit".

"I think that I stay here and I repeat to stay here and this is the most important thing". I don't like when I listen to other persons talking about me.

Ake has made just two appearances for Chelsea - both in the FA Cup - since returning, but Conte insists he has no regrets about the decision to recall the 22-year-old defender despite his lack of playing time.

Chelsea now sit in first place with 72 points to their name and eight games of the season left to play.

"I saw, during the game, that there was one moment a bit of confrontation but then it finished".

Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas admits Premier League leaders Chelsea have been feeling the pressure, but have the character to finish the season with a flourish.

And Conte was beaming after the match, which secured a league double over Pep Guardiola's City and banished the memory of Saturday's 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.

"I already said that I wanted to stay and that I was going to fight for minutes".

Conte signed a three-year contract a year ago before taking up his position with Chelsea last July. We'll talk to try (to find) the best solution for the next season. "For now I have this and I want to enjoy it".
