Drake, the Chainsmokers lead with 22 Billboard Award nods each

Arizona violinist Lindsey Stirling has been nominated for two Billboard Music Awards, she announced on social media on Monday.

There was no "Top Rock Tour" category in 2016, but Taylor Swift snagged the win for Billboard's "Top Touring Artist" previous year against Madonna, One Direction, The Rolling Stones and U2. Springsteen and the E Street Band also will compete for the Top Touring Artist and Top Rock Tour awards, while Metallica garnered nominations for the Top Rock Artist prize and Top Rock Album honor for Hardwired...to Self-Destruct. As it turns out, with the pair dominating a number of categories, the music awards will seemingly be the celebration of Drake and Rihanna.

The Top Hot 100 Songs category features a diverse array of hits.

All five acts with nominated albums were also put forward for the Top Artist gong, with Adele, The Chainsmokers, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, and Justin Bieber rounding the category out. WizKid & Kyla, "One Dance"; Justin Timberlake, "Can't Stop the Feeling!" and Twenty One Pilots, "Heathens".

Guns N' Roses received nods in three categories - Top Duo/Group, Top Touring Artist and Top Rock Tour.

The ceremony will be broadcast live in the U.S. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 21.
