Milwaukee confident heading into playoff matchup vs. experienced, talented Raptors

The bad starts we knew about, both in games for most of this past season and starting a playoff series historically.

The Raptors outscored the Bucks 30-16 in the quarter and took a 51-46 lead into the half.

Toronto's Kyle Lowry made only two of 11 field-goal attempts, missing all six 3-point efforts, and finished with four points.

Five players are averaging at least 10.2 points per game for the Bucks, they are: Giannis Antetokounmpo (22.9), Jabari Parker (20.1), Khris Middleton (14.7), Greg Monroe (11.7) and Malcolm Brogdon (10.2). Jonas Valanciunas had nine points and nine rebounds. For whatever reason, postseason Lowry is nothing like regular season Lowry and I don't understand why.

The Raptors have two prolific scorers in Lowry and DeRozan, but with the trade deadline acquisitions of Tucker and Serge Ibaka, Toronto has transformed into a defensive beast.

Wade is averaging 22.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in 166 playoff games, while Rondo has dished out 9.1 assists to go with 14.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in his 66 postseason outings.

The Toronto Raptors will be going back to the drawing board after getting blown away by the young Bucks in a 97-83 loss in Game 1.

Lowry is now shooting 25.6 percent on 3-pointers in the first round in his career, which is the second-worst 3-point FG percentage in that round in National Basketball Association history (min. 100 attempts), ahead of only Lou Williams.

"It's big for us", Antetokounmpo said. "What happens too is when you start talking about guys you want to play off of, make them shoot jump shots, that makes you soft", Casey said. The fans, come early. the police take down those barricades so we can get more and more fans in there because we love it and the players love it and they feel it.

After a strong offensive showing in the second quarter, the Raptors offence cooled after halftime as Toronto managed just 19 points in the third, shooting an ugly 3-for-18 from the floor.

But no other Raptor played particularly well on a night when everything that could go wrong did for the Raptors.

DeRozan and the Raptors host the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 on Saturday at the Air Canada Centre, and met with the media Thursday after a walkthrough and film session.

There are so many galling data points about this loss that I'm nearly at a loss to list them all.

Opening the third, a Maker block led to a fast break with Antetokounmpo switching hands with the ball in midair to evade a defender and get a better look at the bucket for a finger-roll layup.

It should have been time for the Raptors to put some distance between themselves and the Bucks, but the opposite occurred. Dwane Casey's rotations left a little to be desired Saturday. It would be nice to get that proverbial monkey off their backs, Ujiri said. As a leader, he stepped up and didn't take the bait. But in the second half he, like the rest of the Raptors, were stymied time and again.

"So it's about just doing whatever you can to slow them down".

Ingles started and played the final tense minutes when the Clippers nearly clawed their way back from a seven-point deficit, but veteran Joe Johnson scored the winning basket for the Jazz with a driving floating jump shot at the buzzer.

Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James (23) passes against Indiana Pacers' Myles Turner (33) in the first half in Game 1 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series, Saturday, April 15, 2017, in Cleveland. Milwaukee finished their final 12 games with a 7-5 record, some of those included in their red hot March in which they went an NBA-best 14-4. Six-foot-8 forward DeMarre Carroll will likely draw the first turn defending him, with 6-foot-6 forward P.J. Tucker also taking the assignment.
