NBA players union complains about Jackson's Carmelo comments

New York Knicks president Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills look on during the second half against the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden.

"We've not been able to win with him on the court at this time".

Anthony attended the Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn Friday night and declined to comment.?

Jackson's latest media session not only rubbed Roberts the wrong way, but also confused Kristaps Porzingis, the 21-year-old talent considered the future of the NY franchise.

The Knicks are 80-166 in three full years that Jackson has been in charge, and have lost at least 50 games each season. The Knicks did not immediately respond to Roberts' statement.

American sportswriter Roland Lazenby, author of the best-selling books Michael Jordan: The Life and Showboat: The Life of Kobe Bryant, said on his Twitter account a couple of days ago that the Knicks would be smart to bring Tim Cone to NY.

He met with Anthony a day earlier, a meeting he said was cordial. Jackson said on Friday when it comes to trades: "Everything has got to be possible", but it seems he has more of a desire to move Anthony on than the Latvian.

"We voiced with the Commissioner today our view on the inappropriate comments by Knicks President Phil Jackson".

- Jackson said Derrick Rose, whose first season with the Knicks ended with him needing surgery to fix torn knee cartilage, told him he wants to return as a free agent "to have a chance to redeem himself as a player".

"This is not something that you want to have labelled on your career. You want to get to that territory where you have a chance to win".

"So in our talks this time we talked about how we're going to go about doing what we have to do", Jackson said. But he likes it here.

- Players are complaining that the Knicks' media department is far too intrusive, the support staff are mostly useless lackeys and that Hornacek has become a Jackson puppet. "That's a big load for anybody to take on", Jackson said. That's what he does.

"Kurt Rambis has all the knowledge that I have", Jackson said.

While Knicks fans are probably fine with the idea of moving on from Melo (who turns 33 in May), this Porzingis news is not something they want to hear. Jackson had plans to install him as the full-time head coach, but decided against it and went with Jeff Hornacek. And for those who would argue with that, remember this: Jackson has since traded for Derrick Rose and signed Joakim Noah to arguably the worst contract in the National Basketball Association.

"I've tried to do some of that but not intrude in the coaches' direction", Jackson said.

The team president surmised that some of the Knicks' issues this season were a result of a "resistance (to the triangle) and a resistance from the top" which was a reference to Anthony. "And I think it has to stop and that will stop".
