Oklahoma sheriff's deputy dies after shooting

Officials tell NewsChannel 4 that a deputy with the Logan County Sheriff's Office was shot multiple times near I-35 and Mulhall Road.

Officials say an Oklahoma deputy who was shot multiple times while serving an eviction notice has died from his injuries.

He says Wade was coherent enough after the shooting to give investigators information about the gunman.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol, along with Sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement, were positioned near County Road 76 and Post Road believing they were close to finding LeForce in the area.

"He was loved. not just by our staff, but by the community", Sheriff Damon Devereaux said during a press conference. "I don't think you could have a bigger honor than that". Wade was an Army veteran, Devereaux said. The stolen vehicle is a gray 2010 Mazda with an Oklahoma tag AEN-616.

Authorities said Nathan Aaron LeForce, 45, shot Wade in Mulhall and then drove his patrol auto about 25 miles to a convenience store near the town of Coyle.

Vincent said LeForce was found in a nearby outbuilding, where he surrendered to authorities. It wasn't immediately clear what charges he might face.

Police say a "person of interest" has been identified in the death of a newborn whose body was found in a trash bin in north-central Oklahoma.
