Neither of the Cleveland Cavaliers' first two playoff wins were ideal, but their 2-0 series lead is all that matters to LeBron James. Conversely, fans and media members are still looking for them to flip the switch and, personally, I don't think they're going to do that until they lose their first postseason game.
2 Cavs with 37 points while James added 27.
Blown big leads. Defensive breakdowns.
In the Cavs' case, that percentage really wasn't a result of bad defense, but rather the amount of turnovers resulting in easy shots for in in transition. None of it means anything to LeBron James.
Along with Shumpert's defense on George, Shumpert also canned a corner 3-pointer directly in front of the in bench, which capped a 7-0 run, pushed the Cavs' lead to 12 and forced in to call a timeout less than two minutes into the second half. Game three is on Friday morning (AEST).
However, they almost blew an 18-point lead in the fourth as the Pacers got within four before Cleveland closed it out at the line. "Even in, you know, the first two quarters, we build a lead, we didn't close out the second quarter as well as we would like to and, but, we have a chance", said James.
That's the next step in the Cavs' process, finding a way to play a complete game. We've got to figure it out at home.
"I'd rather have an 18-point lead than not have a lead at all", James said after Monday's game.
"We're right there", James said after putting up 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists on Monday. In Saturday's one-point Cavs' victory, the Pacers had a 24-17 edge.
IN will welcome the change of venue for Game 3 and may receive a boost if J.R. Smith remains limited or sidelined by a hamstring injury that kept him out for the closing portion of Game 2.
Maybe he was thinking about how George Hill, the point guard IN traded for Jeff Teague, wouldn't be getting smashed on screens and abused off the dribble. Cleveland is 12-0 when starting 2-0 in the postseason. It was the first time in franchise history that three players scored at least 25 points in a playoff game. On Monday, he scored 13 points in 26 minutes, but he picked up four personal fouls.
"I thought we lost our composure and got frantic out there", Nate McMillan said of the fateful quarter. "We lost our poise and weren't calm during that third quarter. And that was big".
Paul George pedaled back on comments he made about the last shot, after the Indiana Pacers' Game 1 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"We know what's at stake", C.J. Miles said. We've got to rely on them to make plays. "It's our turnovers. We've got to take care of the basketball".
"We just need him to challenge Tristan [Thompson], keep him off the boards".
"I feel like I should have been at Coachella", James said, before adding when called out by his team-mates: "What?" "Lance is, in our locker room, is looked upon as a leader". His body language has to improve. "Just staying ready, being professional, he did a great job on Paul George". Defensively, we just didn't play that right. He's missed nine of his 13 attempts from the floor - which includes going 2-6 inside the restricted area - and four of his six free throws. C Al Jefferson was active, but didn't play.
Game 3 will be one where Turner responds emphatically to George's words. The Blue and Gold is now down two games to none. A moment of silence was observed for Robert Godwin Sr., the 73-year-old tragically killed Sunday in Cleveland by a suspect who shot him and posted the killing on Facebook.
But Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue sounded the warning about his team's high turnover count, which allowed the Pacers to re-enter the contest.
