Bundy earns 5th victory as Orioles beat White Sox 6-5

The Orioles scored four early runs and beat the Chicago White Sox 6-5 before 28,718 at Oriole Park May 6. More importantly for Tillman, it's a chance to start his final season before free agency and earn what is sure to be a lucrative multi-year contract this offseason.

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Wade Miley gets up after being hit by a line drive single by Chicago White Sox's Avisail Garcia in the first inning of a baseball game in Baltimore, Friday, May 5, 2017.

Since then, Tillman has maintained an ERA under four in all but one season (2015), and in 2013, he made the All-Star Game and finished the year 16-7 with a 3.71 ERA.

Hits piled up quickly for both teams on Saturday, but the Orioles were able to jump out to a 3-0 lead and not look back.

"Very quietly we've been real careful with him this year".

Jose Abreu is on a risky tear, getting hits in bunches and hitting the ball with considerable force. Tilly also went to a three-ball count against him but he swung at several pitches outside the strike zone, including a pop up to Chris Davis for the first out. After walking the first two batters and working out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, Tillman bounced back nicely in his first appearance since the 2016 AL wild-card game. You don't feel as much pressure, I guess you could say, on trying to get a guy out with a guy on second and third or something like that. "I was kind of over sitting on the bench watching games and felt I was in a good enough position to come back, but obviously I wasn't".

White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana (2-5) entered the game having won his previous two starts with a 0.64 ERA.

Renteria said Cabrera has become the host of the team's postgame ritual, in which they name a player of the game and award the victor a traveling WWE belt. His fastball velocity averaged about 90 during his start, never dipping below 88.

The Orioles, on the other hand, singled Jose Quintana to death.

Miguel Gonzalez (3-2) allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings. Trumbo was initially called out but it was reversed on replay. Trey Mancini singled to right field to knock in the second run.

Twins 4, Red Sox 3: Joe Mauer hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to lift Minnesota over Boston. "I just have to get ready for the next one".

The second two were the result of bloop singles on better fastballs.

Machado hit a sharp ball that made it past the diving shortstop. Mauer's first career walk-off home run landed in the bullpen in left-center field and backed a strong start from Phil Hughes in the Twins' fifth win in six games.

For Tillman, those four minor-league starts were the equivalent of spring training for the rest of the staff, and as we all know, spring training numbers can be deceiving. Chicago left 11 runners on base. Buck Showalter went to Brad Brach, who faced just one batter and induced a game-ending double play.
