Nintendo announces Metroid Prime 4, coming to Nintendo Switch in 2018

All eyes were on Nintendo after the company's E3 Spotlight this morning, waiting for the publisher to demonstrate its upcoming 3DS game, Metroid: Samus Returns. It'd be hard to sell a new Metroid Prime game that wasn't developed by Retro, so hopefully we get confirmation soon. As a massive Metroid fan myself, I considered AM2R to be in my top 5 games of 2016. Are you excited for Metroid Prime 4?

Nintendo has not said who is developing Metroid Prime 4. The announcement came via Twitter during the Nintendo Treehouse Live stream, after all the major announcements seemed to be finished.

Metroid Prime 4 will be the 4th game in the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime series, which debuted in 2002.

The Japanese gaming publisher then proceeded to tweet out images of a special edition Metroid: Samus Returns bundle that will be made available this year. Metroid: Samus Returns is the 3DS remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption launched for the Nintendo Wii back in 2007, marking the last time we saw a core entry in the beloved series.

Two new amiibo will also be arriving in the form of a Goomba and Koopa Troopa, but more details on their release date will be announced soon.
