Aisha Tyler exiting The Talk to pursue directing

#Aisha Tyler has a role on three series besides being a talk show co-host on "The Talk". "I love being with you every day and I love being out here with you every day". She's recently been promoted from recurring character to series regular on the CBS drama Criminal Minds.

"I have had an unbelievable six years with you guys", Tyler, 46, told her co-hosts, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood on the show Thursday.

A tearful Aisha Tyler made a surprising announcement on Thursday's episode of "The Talk", telling viewers she'll be exiting the daytime talk show at the end of the current season.

"Coming here is such a joy that it doesn't feel like work to me", she added, regarding her spot at the Talk table.

After her surprising announcement, Aisha Tyler posted two poignant messages to social media.

Tyler continued on, explaining that directing her first feature film, Axis, was something she's "always dreamed of doing". It was already hectic, but now that she has an opportunity to direct her first feature film, she had to make the hard decision to let something go. The talk show host, actress, comedian, author, producer, writer, and now director has been on "The Talk" since Season 2 in 2011.

"I have had an incredible six years with you guys", Tyler said to her co-hosts.

Tyler told her co-hosts that 'the thing she's going to miss the most is all of the time they spend together while they're not on camera'. "People always go 'How to you do all that?' And I don't always have an answer". In her goodbye, she cited the recent successes of other female directors, including Ava DuVernay and "Wonder Woman's" Patty Jenkins.
