Fake TIME magazine covers displayed at Donald Trump's golf club locations

Time Magazine has asked Trump businesses to remove a phony magazine cover featuring Donald Trump that at least four Trump-branded golf clubs have hanging up on their walls. When Trump criticizes anyone for spreading fake news what he really means is that a truthful story is threatening his myth. Donald Trump has always sold a fantasy.

The cover, dated March 1, 2009, was never published by the magazine at any point, a spokeswoman for Time confirmed.

A reporter recently noticed that some things were off about the magazine cover after visiting one of the courses and noting several small but important mistakes. On Tuesday, SI (which is owned by Time Inc.) tweeted a blank cover featuring the headline "Top 10 NFL Draft Picks".

The Washington Post contacted TIME Magazine to find out if the cover was, in fact, a fake, and the publication revealed that it was not a real magazine cover.

Time magazine has asked the Trump Organization to remove copies of a fake cover of President Trump that were on display at the company's golf clubs, The Washington Post reported Tuesday afternoon. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to say whether Trump had known the cover wasn't real.

Employees at Trump's Turnberry club in Scotland told the Post that the cover was added to a wall after Trump purchased the course in 2014, but it was taken down a few weeks ago.

Trump has often touted his consistent Time cover appearances. "I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time magazine", Donald Trump said the day after he was inaugurated.

The Post noted that Trump had actually only been featured on the magazine's cover once before entering politics, in January 1989, when he was known as a NY business mogul.
