So "Money" Mayweather isn't letting McGregor's supposedly racist trash talk get him down, yet this is far from the first time we've heard critics say "The Notorious" pushes the boundaries of prejudice and discrimination with his talk. I was facing the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, Jose Aldo. Brows peaked again in Toronto on Wednesday when McGregor doubled down on the questionable comment.
"28-years of age, I'm getting fight checks and promoter checks".
Those prices should be expected for a fight of this magnitude; whether or not you think it actually will be a compelling bout, Mayweather-McGregor is one of the most anticipated events in recent boxing history.
"His little head and my big fist, they don't go together, so he will be done for", McGregor says.
McGregor was still fired up about the fact his mic cut out during Monday's presser in Los Angeles, which he believes Showtime did deliberately. "You're carrying a schoolbag on stage. You can't even read!".
Clearly, that's what McGregor accomplished Wednesday in successfully answering Mayweather's digs, with stops on the fighters' global promotional tour continuing Thursday at Brooklyn's Barclays Center and Friday in London. "I do numbers. I make money", said Mayweather, who is worth about $340 million, according to Forbes.
If you've ever watched "Rocky III" then you know there are no dancing monkeys.
"And they said I'm the guy that can't read".
And that presents another angle where the build to Mayweather vs. McGregor takes a drastically different and noticeable turn.
The former boxing champ who is coming out of retirement to face McGregor didn't seem all that bothered by his opponent's words, but he certainly didn't enjoy the same reaction no matter what he said in return.
"I'm not sure whether it's part of the show", Espinoza told MMA Fighting. "If it was, it wouldn't take one round for me to knock him out". He's never fought a day in his life.
Toward the end of the performance, Mayweather put on an Irish flag from the crowd and pretended to defecate.
