Earlier today at San Diego Comic-Con, Legendary and Universal unleashed our first look at Pacific Rim: Uprising in the form of a teaser that acts an in-universe commercial for the Jaeger Uprising, a new generation of Jaeger Pilots that can help defend all of humanity.
Tomaytoes, tomahtoes. "Uprising" will be released on February 23, 2018.
Guillermo del Toro, who directed the first film, initially planned to direct the sequel as well, but when the studio wanted to put the movie on a nine month hold, del Toro stepped back into a producing capacity instead and went off to make The Shape of Water instead, choosing Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight as his directorial replacement on Uprising. Charlie Hunnam will not be in the sequel. Witness the next evolution of human invention, with the unveiling of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps Mark VI Jaeger Program, and visit GOJAEGER.COM to discover if you have what it takes to join the biggest heroes ever to walk the Earth. While Pacific Rim featured a Jaeger program on its last legs - and, as such, numerous robots were older machines - Uprising seems to be including state-of-the-art technology in its Jaegers. The footage used in this viral site teaser likely doesn't come from Uprising itself, but it may hint that the new and improved Jaegers won't need a co-pilot system of drift compatible soldiers since Jake appears to be on his own in his Jaeger. The film's cast includes John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeney, Jing Tian, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Levi Meaden, Adria Arjona, Karan Brar, and Nick E. Tarabay.
