Luck headed to Colts' PUP list for start of training camp

The news of Luck starting training camp on the PUP list isn't surprising; the quarterback just started throwing a football last week after having right shoulder surgery in January. The team's preseason opener is Sunday, August 13.

However, it would be a shocker if, barring a setback, he isn't under center against the Rams. Then once we get to practice, then the next step will be games.

"I'm comfortable when our doctors clear him and say he's ready to play. whether that means he plays in preseason, doesn't play in preseason, " Ballard said.

Is Luck starting September 10 part of that process? Geathers missed the following game because of a concussion and eventually was placed on injured reserve on December 12 with the neck injury. He originally suffered the injury in Week 3 of the 2015 season.

Andrew Luck watches from the sidelines. "We are going to make sure, obviously, that the shoulder has to be ready and the doctors are going to give full approval before he starts putting real reps on it and that sort of thing". "He'll be ready to go and perform at a good level".

Geathers is also being placed on PUP, but will remain there for at least the first six weeks of the regular season. He underwent offseason surgery to address a herniated disc in his neck. "He's in a good frame mentally".

Other updates from Ballard on Monday include injury updates on safeties Clayton Geathers and Malik Hooker as well as defensive lineman Kendall Langford.
