Dragon Quest 11 is Coming to the West

Square Enix announced today Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be released in the west sometime next year. The game is being localized into five languages, one of which is English.

Speaking in a special video message to celebrate the announcement, Dragon Quest series creator, Yuji Horii, also introduces an overview of the game and offers an update on the games localisation process. "But we're doing our best and working hard to this game to all of you as soon as possible, so I sincerely hope you look forward to this game".

The prolific franchise celebrated its 30th anniversary past year.

Dragon Quest XI will be released in the Western market next year. The video also doesn't say if the global release will be on multiple platforms or not. Dragon Age 10 ended up being an MMO that remained exclusive to Japan. The game will be released on yet to be confirmed platforms so it is safe to say that expect a PS4 version in the West while the fate of the 3DS version is still not confirmed.

The last main Dragon Quest title to reach the USA was Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, which launched in 2010 on Nintendo DS.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is set to release in Western territories in 2018. If you can't wait that long, you can also try to import the Japanese version of the game which is due out tomorrow for the PS4 and Nintendo 3DS.
