Amy Schumer to Make Broadway Debut in New Steve Martin Play

Amy Schumer was approached by Steve Martin to star in the Broadway play.

She'll play the character of Corky in the show, who alongside her husband invites another couple round for an unforgettable and quite unconventional dinner party. Schumer and Key will be making their Broadway debuts. The show is shaping to be quite the amalgamation of hilarious personalities: Keegan-Michael Key is one of her costars, as is Laura Benanti (who won a Tony for Gypsy) and Alan Tudyk (Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph). "He is my friend and I just love him and can't believe I get to be in his play on BROADWAY!" Schumer and Alan Tudyk will play Corky and Norm, a California couple who invite Tony Award victor Laura Benanti and Keegan-Michael Key's Laura and Gerald over for dinner and stargazing one night.

Emmy Award-winner Schumer, who scored a hit with her 2015 comedy "Trainwreck", will star in the upcoming multigenerational-family comedy-drama "She Came to Me" with Steve Carell and Nicole Kidman. Meteor Shower is Martin's first Broadway opening since his Tony award-nominated bluegrass musical Bright Star, which closed last summer after a disappointing box office run.

Comedy icon Martin, who turns 72 on August 14, was nominated for Tony Awards for the book and the music of the 2016 musical "Bright Star". The show was previously staged, without Schumer, at the Long Wharf theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Old Globe in San Diego. The Broadway run opens November 29, with previews beginning November 1, at the Booth Theatre.

Amy plays Renee Barrett In I Feel Pretty, a woman whose head injury leads her to believe a spell was cast on her to make her look incredibly lovely.
