Console reporting on Overwatch coming with next update

IT

Usual suspects like "Overwatch" and "Hearthstone" all have copious events and activities scheduled. If you're lucky enough to attend Gamescom, the new map will be playable at Blizzard's booth after a Monday reveal. The leading European trade fair for digital gaming culture is taking place from August 22-26, and we'll be there to put on our best show yet.

On Monday, August 21, Blizzard will also release a special preview video of all the playable content bring showcased at the event at 12pm eastern, 5pm United Kingdom and 6pm CET. So many big games unintentionally put up a wall, implying through their communities, marketing or even gameplay, that they are only for one kind of player or another.

New details on the upcoming 7.3 patch on Wednesday, August 23.

The new map shouldn't be a surprise, as director Jeff Kaplan has been hinting at it for some time now, promising the most photo-realistic map that the game has seen to date.

It all starts Monday, so check back here on August 21 for a look at the new Overwatch map, the animated short, and more from Blizzard at gamescom. The company has announced that the Blizzard Reveal Ceremony will take place at 5pm BST on 23 August 2017.

Blizzard today announced its plans for next week's Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany.

StarCraft is another game where we'll expect an update, this time shining some light on the latest StarCraft II co-op commander. It's also bringing a new group mission to card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

Attendees at gamescom will be able to command legions of the risen dead and wield the dark arts with Diablo III's Rise of the Necromancer pack, playable on PC and PlayStation 4.

Blizzard will close things out on Saturday with a cosplay content, a panel hosted by the German Overwatch World Cup team and a variety of smaller events. Visit http://gamescom.blizzard.com for the full schedule of activities.

If you're headed to the show, Blizzard will (naturally) be selling plenty of merchandise in its store over in Hall 5.
