Android 16 will also be a major part of the game's story campaign which serves as a "what if" reimagining of the anime.
Siliconera has obtained the latest edition of the Japanese gaming magazine Jump, and there developer Arc System Works has announced that Super Saiyan Blue Goku, Vegeta, Android 16, and Android 18 are all joining the roster in the upcoming fighting game. Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan is quite the mouthful, so we'll just shorten it to Super Saiyan Blue like they do in Dragon Ball Super. These two additional characters also possess some special moves that can blow away just about anyone that is unfortunate enough to meet them in battle. Other available characters include Freiza, Majin Boo, Cell and Gohan, among others. Android 18 can use an ability called Accel Dance to summon Android 17 for a combination attack, but at the time, it's unclear whether Android 17 will be included in the game as a playable character or not.
Android 16 was one of the bigger players in the Android Saga, and Dragon Ball FighterZ is aiming to bring him back in its own "What If" mode. It is unknown if this is the only capacity in which Android 17 will appear.
The Weekly Jump magazine revealed the game's story mode, and it will feature a "what if" scenario for the players to tackle.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to launch in early 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Additionally, you'll get to play with up to six players for three-on-three matches when you're ready to start playing online and show off your skills. A closed beta will run from September 16 to 18.
