The eventual outcome was apparent at an early stage and the match did not feature the world's best players, yet the Solheim Cup was still a spectacle capable of saving the women's circuit in Europe.
Nordqvist went 3-0-1 during the week to lead the Europeans.
Lizette Salas knocked in the decisive putt as the United States held off the stubborn challenge of Europe to retain the Solheim Cup at Des Moines Golf and Country Club.
It's easy for Inkster to get players to follow her lead.
Lexi Thompson set the tone by rallying from four holes down.
Gerina Piller sealed it with a birdie putt that put her 3 up over Florentyna Parker with three to play.
"She's a rookie, she played all five matches this week and she played awesome", Creamer said of Hall.
"I'd decided this was the last", she said. "I wasn't nervous. I was just more excited".
Team USA defeated Team Europe to win Solheim Cup 2017 on Sunday, Aug. 20, in Iowa.
When Angel Yin, the long-hitting Solheim rookie, halved her match with Karine Icher, the US was assured of getting the 14 points necessary to retain the Cup. By that time, the American team - and its boisterous, but respectful, crowd - had already started celebrating. I see a lot of me in her, just that grinder attitude, doesn't matter where the game is at.
"The Europeans fought hard today and made it really close", said U.S. captain Juli Inkster. I don't even know where that [rumour] came from. They made it really close. "Scott's obviously been playing great all year, so I know tomorrow I have to go and shoot a really good score. It's just an honor to captain this team, and I'm really honored to captain these girls".
The teams shared the Sunday spoils, both winning five singles matches, while the other two were halved.
England's Charley Hull finished one-up against Brittany Lang and there were also victories for Spain's Carlota Ciganda, 4&3 against Brittany Lincicome, and Sweden's Madelene Sagstrom, 3&2 at the expense of Austin Ernst.
"So, I'm not sure what six gets us", she said. "I'm so proud how hard my team fought".
"I am extremely proud". They both then made bogey to half the 17th hole, with Lexi still up by one. What can I say?
"It was probably fitting that they both got half a point, they both played unbelievable", United States captain Juli Inkster said.
"Sometimes it's not always about the results, this has been a lot about the journey. It's been a pleasure to play under Annika, and just watched her grow through these last 18 months".
The German will face Johan Carlsson next as he seeks his fifth European Tour title.
The 2015 Solheim Cup was embroiled in controversy.
Europe, needing to win eight of the 12 singles matches to achieve an unlikely victory, made US captain Juli Inkster nervous with a strong start, but could only share the Sunday spoils. The 2019 Solheim Cup will be held at Gleneagles in Scotland on September 13-15.
