Everton and Chelsea reportedly battling to sign prolific striker

Conte smiled ahead of February's clash with the Swans when he was asked whether Chelsea had made a January bid for Llorente, who scored 15 goals last season after joining from Sevilla.

On Wednesday morning AS reported Chelsea are close to securing Fernando Lllorente from Swansea City.

The signing of Llorente will come as a huge boost to Spurs fans as they finally add the missing piece to their jigsaw in the search for Premier League glory.

Speaking at a news conference while on worldwide duty with Belgium on Wednesday night, Chelsea star Hazard said: "If Chelsea sign Llorente, he [Michy Batshuayi] will have less playing time".

Chelsea are also no longer favourites to sign Fernando Llorente after Tottenham agreed a £15m fee to sign the 32-year-old striker from Swansea City.

Chelsea have coveted the striker all summer with Conte hoping to reunite with the Spaniard after a brief spell at Juventus.

He started only four matches after Christmas last season and did not start a game after Arsenal's FA Cup win at Sutton in February. With the transfer window closing in just over a day and a half, it's getting pretty tight for the Blues now.

Do you think Chelsea will lose out on yet another signing?

Vincent Janssen is Tottenham's current stand-in striker, but the Dutchman has struggled to settle at the club and Pochettino is keen to land a proven Premier League frontman to accompany Kane.

Sky Sports News understands there has been no official bid from Everton for the former Spain global at this stage, despite reports linking the Toffees with a move.
