Isaiah Thomas: 'Man, am I going to miss being a Celtic'

ESPN reported today that the Celtics were unsure of when Thomas actually tore the ligament in his hip, and that Ainge was prompted to trade him over the lingering ailment.

During his 2.5 years with the Celtics, Thomas says he "fell in love with Boston" and was disappointed because he wanted to go down in New England sports history for bringing championships to Boston.

I'm a big fan of both Kyrie and IT because I'm a fan of the game and love to watch good point guard play. "And that's when he told me", Thomas wrote.

According to Thomas' recently released essay on The Players Tribune, of the many people who reached out to him after the news broke, one who really stood out was Patriots' quarterback, Tom Brady.

After a awful start to the offseason, the Cleveland Cavaliers finally completed a deal that would give them short-term and long-term benefits.

When he's healthy, Thomas gives the Cavs another proven scoring option alongside LeBron James.

Cavaliers general manager Kobe Altman didn't do anything to dispel those doomsday reports Thursday. "If we want to talk about Isaiah, let's talk about Isaiah the All-Star". He expounded on how the trade taught him about the cold reality of professional basketball.

"When it comes to business, (loyalty) ain't nothing to count on".

Following the trade, Brady texted Thomas to ask how he was handling the news. "It also woke me up. Nah, I don't think so". "I've been in situations before where things have been a little tough and we haven't had the best players, but we just kept fighting and worked for what we had".

"I've been shooting under 10-foot hopes since I was seven". The new deal consisted of Irving going to the Celtics for all the same players, the first round draft pick from the Nets, and an added 2020 draft pick to make the deal more appropriate. He says he's comfortable being the underdog.

"I averaged 29 a game and they're still gonna talk". I'm not sitting here, writing this, because I feel I was wronged. But that won't just be 'the team I used to be on.' That's my old team. "The whole arena was right there with me. That's just what it is".

Now that the deal is final, Thomas - who is rehabbing this week in Cleveland - shared an emotional glimpse of what he has gone through over the past couple of months.
