DOOM Sacrifices SnapMap and Multiplayer for a Switch Release

One of the more surprising announcements from yesterday's Nintendo Direct presentation, DOOM will be joined by fellow Bethesda property Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, further indicating the publisher's dedication to the console.

"In addition to these new features, Skyrim for Switch will come fully loaded with all official add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn".

As sales of the WiiU started to decline, developers abandoned the console to focus on creating truly AAA games for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Doom originally launched on PS4 and Xbox One in 2016 and perhaps was a bit unlucky to have launched in that year as it had to compete with some other wonderful shooters such as Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 amongst others. Bethesda is not only bringing Skyrim to Switch but, Doom is also coming to the hybrid console this holiday season. Yet the game stood on its own two feet and was praised by fans and critics alike for its all guns blazing gameplay, and its incredible soundtrack. Players will be able to experience the game in virtual reality with the VR version of the game that will launch later this year along with Fallout 4 VR. The sequel was already confirmed PC, PlayStation4, and Xbox One; with the release date set for October 27th, 2017. The game is being developed by Machine Games and will run on the same engine as Doom ie id Tech 6.

If you flinched the first time you saw a meaty Mancubus charging at you in last year's critically acclaimed DOOM, wait till you get up close and even more personal with rampaging demons in DOOM VFR.
