Romelu Lukaku put United ahead for the first time just before the hour, but like with Stoke's opener, an equaliser followed soon after as Choupo-Moting doubled his tally.
"No, I'm not satisfied with a point because we were the team closer to winning", he said via his club's site. "They defended well, they counterattacked and in set pieces they are powerful".
Eventually Stoke found the breakthrough in the 43rd minute through Choupo-Moting, but that only seemed to jolt United into life, as they restored parity shortly after in fortuitous circumstances when a Paul Pogba header deflected in off Marcus Rashford.
- Mark Hughes has become only the second manager to go unbeaten in four consecutive Premier League managerial clashes with Jose Mourinho, after Ronald Koeman (5 games).
Hughes' well-drilled side took great pride in ending the Premier League's last remaining 100 per cent record - and the Stoke boss clearly got under Mourinho's skin as no full-time handshake was forthcoming.
United scored 10 goals without reply in its three victories before the worldwide break but came unstuck against a team that has already beaten Arsenal this season. "We didn't allow them as much space and everything I asked the guys to do, they fulfilled".
The Potters' new signing Choupo-Moting managed to open the scoring just two minutes before half-time, as he slotted the ball into the back of the net following a low cross from Mame Diouf. We're going to try and play well and score goals. "No problem - these things are part of the game", the manager said.
Lukaku should have scored again late on, but he missed the target from close range and an irritated Mourinho was left wondering what might have been.
Jose Mourinho believes only "one team tried to win" as a wasteful Manchester United side were held to a 2-2 draw by Stoke City on Saturday.
"I have to say it is a result I accept though".
"I think it's a bit lazy of people to keep on reverting to that "Stoke are a physical team" thing".
