Google to announce $49 Google Home Mini in October

Next up, we're hearing from Droid-Life that the Google Daydream View is allegedly getting a 2017 refresh as well.

Google is tapping LG for manufacturing of the Pixel 2 XL (HTC is reportedly handling those duties on the smaller Pixel 2). The Pixel 2 XL will come in two color options, according to the report: all black and a combination of black and white. Priced at $50, Home Mini will let you access Google Assistant similar to how the Echo Dot summons Alexa. This could be particularly useful for home automation as you could give the Assistant one command i order to, say, turn your lights off and change your thermostat all at once.

Apparently, as speculated by The Verge, the stiff competition between Apple and Google has become even more fierce with the coinciding announcements of the Pixel and the release month of iPhone X. Google even released a teaser video with someone typing questions in the Google search engine. This year, Google it seems is listening to a customer pain point and giving consumers more storage this time around for the same $650 starting cost. The Google Home sells for $129, while the Amazon Echo goes for $179, though it's often on sale for less.

Google seems likely to introduce a smaller version of the Google Home next week.

The rounded puck size device will be available in three colors initially: Charcoal, Chalk (looks grayish) and Coral (which looks reddish pink).

Google will also unleash a revamped 2017 edition of its Daydream View VR headset. How many of you were expecting Google Home Mini at October 4th event.
