Gareth Barry targeting new West Brom deal

Barry is keen to stay at West Brom beyond the end of this current season.

"It's a huge number when you think about it", Barry said ahead of his potentially record-breaking game. "My family will be at the game but there won't be a smile on my face after anything other than a positive result", Barry told the club's website (

Meanwhile, Callum Chambers, Francis Coquelin and Danny Welbeck are all ruled out with injures.

More than 19 years later, Barry is still playing in England's top division and, on Monday, will break the Premier League appearance record if selected by West Bromwich Albion for their away match at Arsenal.

The two time Premier League victor is set to surpass Ryan Giggs' 633 league games - it will be a new record.

Tony Pulis is relatively care-free when it comes to fitness issues as the trio of Chris Brunt, Oliver Burke and Nacer Chadli should all be back from their muscle problems.

West Brom won the last league clash between these two clubs; 3-1 at the Hawthorns in March.

Arsene Wenger was days away from winning the English Premier League for the first time as Arsenal manager. Arsenal do not have any players serving a suspension.

The last Arsenal player to score in their first three home league appearances for the club was Brian Marwood in September 1988.

'Part of me thought there would be less pressure on me at Everton, not starting games and less expected of you. He's an Arsenal man and an Arsenal player. I chose the team at Chelsea who can be strong on the counter-attack and fight very hard. With the opposition's happiness to relinquish possession and suffocate the space in their own defensive third, remaining narrow in and around the penalty area, and ensuring that the only space they allow is out wide and in deeper areas, being able to dictate and orchestrate from the anchoring midfield position can determine the success in attempting to engineer and create chances.

He is unlikely to be involved when Arsenal take on West Brom on Monday, but could return for the trip to Belarus to take on Bate Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday.
