Alabama has only been tested once this season, and that was against a Florida State team that has looked anything but impressive since their loss to the Tide. A win would give Ole Miss a 1-0 record in Southeastern Conference play, but it won't be easy as the Rebels are dealing with some key injuries on both sides of the football as they prepare to face the nation's number one team. While Saban said the play was legal, he questioned the use of such blocks due to players' safety. "We need to focus on things that we can improve". They're always going to be deeper than you.
Wallace brushed aside charging fans the same way he slipped past Alabama defenders in the pocket during the game.
Saban touted the undefeated Commodores two weeks ago before Alabama rolled to a 59-0 win in Nashville.
The Rebels entered Bryant-Denney Stadium as winners of two of the last three matchups against the Crimson Tide, but #1 Alabama (5-0, 2-0) made sure it wouldn't come to the fourth quarter, as the Tide led 35-3 at halftime, eventually defeating Ole Miss (2-2, 0-1) 66-3. Texas A&M opened the season by blowing a 34-point lead over UCLA, but has won four straight games since that loss.
Saban believes Texas A&M's opening loss, which was followed by an unsigned, racially insensitive letter sent to coach Kevin Sumlin's home, may have been galvanizing.
"Sometimes when things like that happen, it can be a galvanizing thing for your team", Saban said.
"They bracketed [Brown] a little bit tonight, played some double coverage on him some", Luke said. He's, in a word, accurate, and he gets good help from those brawny receivers on the outside. Jalen Hurts threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score.
Long since taken out of game with the Crimson Tide leading Ole Miss by 40 points just 6 minutes into the third quarter, more than a dozen veterans sprinted from the the Alabama sideline to surround the third-string tailback.
Levi Wallace, cornerback, senior, 6-foot-0, 183 pounds: The former walk-on who began the season as a backup and has now won a promotion to the first team, Wallace will have his most hard task yet. "It's a new week with the same goal". The Rebels have scored 109 points in the last three games against Alabama. Hand sustained the injury on a cut block, which is something Saban would love to remove from the sport.
"But you better be able to block 'em", he said. "If it's illegal we should eliminate cut blocking. Until somebody changes the rules, there is nothing illegal about it".
"I don't care really care how many points we've scored in the last four games, I'm only anxious about how many we score in the next game", Saban said. In addition to Hurts, running back Damien Harris has also rushed for more than 300 yards and receiver Calvin Ridley has established himself as the primary threat in the passing game with 20 receptions for 262 yards in the first third of the season. Sophomore left tackle Jonah Williams graded out at 87 percent with three knockdown blocks against the Rebels.
