Nacho Monreal goal helps Arsenal overcome Brighton and Hove

Iwobi, who is one of the 23 players invited by Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr for Saturday's Russian Federation 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo, scored Arsenal's second goal to help the Gunners defeat Brighton 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium in London on Sunday.

"I like the fact that we didn't concede goals, that we got the three points, that we played the third game in a row in six days and won the game, that's what I liked".

The Gunners constant pressure told as Nacho Monreal hit home with a rebound volley in the 16th minute after attempts from Rob Holding, Kolasicac and Aaron Ramsey were all blocked.

Monreal poked in his first league goal since March 2013 and Alex Iwobi was set up by Alexis Sanchez's back-heel to double Arsenal's lead at the start of the second half.

"It's very hard to be very expansive here, particularly when you're a team like we are that's just got promoted".

The summer saw Wilshere change his profiles on social media to "professional athlete" and drop any mention of Arsenal, prompting speculation that he was to be the next star to walk away from Arsène Wenger on a free transfer.

Brighton became the 45th side to be beaten by Wenger as the manager.

Chris Hughton's side lie 14th after seven games.

"It is not in my hands but I try to get the best out of the players", Koeman said.

Arsenal and Liverpool head into the worldwide break in very different moods from the last one, even though only a point separates them in the Premier League.

Yes, we agree that they were not at their entertaining best against Brighton in a game that many expected Arsenal to win comfortably, but it is perhaps the kind of result that many Arsenal fans would love.

And Arsenal reportedly hope they can reach a deal with the player, who joined the North London club when he was nine, by the end of the year.

He said: "It was certainly a spirited performance, I certainly can't accuse the lads of not giving everything". No current Premier League player has more assists than Ozil after 100 appearances, with 36.
