Belgium declare Romelu Lukaku "100 percent fit" after overcoming an ankle injury

United manager Jose Mourinho had voiced concerns over how the worldwide break could stall his side's momentum ahead of next Saturday's high-profile clash against Liverpool at Anfield and a mounting injury list will only dampen his mood.

Now he has returned, United's medical staff will ascertain the extent of the damage and how long he will be sidelined.

Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini may miss next week's premier league clash against Liverpool after the midfielder picked up an injury during Belgium's World Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.

"I have not had any communication with Jose Mourinho on the subject of Marouane", The Mirror quotes Martinez as saying.

A statement later released on Belgium's Twitter confirmed his fears and revealed the extent of Fellaini's injury.

Bottom line: When Fellaini plays, Manchester United win more games, score more goals, concede less and gain more points.

The former Everton manager told reporters: "Romelu Lukaku is fit".

However, the hope is Lukaku will be fit to face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday in a match that Mourinho will be under huge pressure to win on two fronts.

Mourinho's team face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday in a lunchtime kickoff before a Champions League trip to Benfica on Wednesday.

Estonia's national team is approaching the match with a series of 4 unbeaten matches, one match in a draw with Greece 0-0 and having won three victories over Latvia 2: 1, Cyprus 1-0 and Gibraltar 6-0 this past Saturday.

As much as Fellaini has been maligned during his time at Old Trafford, the figures show how desperate Manchester United will be to get him back.

United are also without another midfielder in the form of Michael Carrick, although he too reported for training on Tuesday morning.

"But there was nothing wrong in that respect so the relationship is very, very good with Manchester United as you would expect".
