Giants Suspend Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie After He Decided to Leave Team

When asked about the length and reason for the suspension, McAdoo said "that's all I have for you right now".

New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo says Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been suspended by the team.

Rodgers-Cromartie has one more season left on the five-year contract he signed before the 2014 season.

Safety Landon Collins told ESPN's Jordan Raanan that he believes the dispute between McAdoo and Rodgers-Cromartie began Sunday.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Rodgers-Cromartie had a conversation with McAdoo on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, when he ultimately chose to leave practice shortly after he got there. "We will suspend him", McAdoo said.

"DRC came in (Tuesday), we had a conversation that was personal upstairs and he came in (Wednesday) and chose to leave", McAdoo said during a Wednesday press conference. Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com reports that he's unhappy with that arrangement and it seems that dissatisfaction has bubbled over. Rodgers-Cromartie said he handled it the wrong way, "but to sit me a game had me hot, so I left".

Rodgers-Cromartie has been one of the Giants' key defensive players, missing just two games since he arrived in NY. Apple vented to reporters after the loss to the Chargers about "the whole culture" of the Giants. Ross Cockrell entered the game when the Giants used their nickel sub-package, bumping Rodgers-Cromartie back inside.
