That leaves the Nou Camp club in a healthy position heading into the winter transfer window but they are likely to find Liverpool's position on Coutinho unchanged.
Barcelona have turned up the heat on Liverpool and will bid £120million for Philippe Coutinho again in January.
However, Barcelona have already begun a charm offensive and Liverpool noted the words of chief executive Oscar Grau on Tuesday who said the club were "ready" to buy the Brazilian.
"We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market, or any player the technical staff request", Grau told reporters on Wednesday, insisting the Liga outfit have the financial clout required.
"We want to have the most competitive squad possible".
Recent reports from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo state that Liverpool had promised Coutinho a January move to join Barcelona in order to keep the playmaker happy and motivated for the season.
Coutinho's transfer request, prompted by Barcelona, came a day before Liverpool's season opener away to Watford.
"I don't think it's going to happen in January, I don't think they've got intention of making it in January".
However, there is no indication of what such a bid would be although the report does suggests it would be similar to those lodged during summer, thought to be €110m, of which €80m was paid up front.
Coutinho would be cup-tied for Champions League games should he move to Barca but that is not expected to affect the move. Let us know in the comments section below!
