Garmin Speak is a Mini Alexa-Equipped Car Accessory, Priced at $149

The Speak is the first in-vehicle device to pair hands-free Alexa access with Garmin navigation software, but it's not the first partner to bring Amazon's voice service into the auto. Alexa can easily search music by artist, title, or genre. From its perch above your car's dashboard, Speak allows drivers to access Amazon Alexa voice skills with the hands-free "Alexa..." keyword. The 1.5-inch device features an OLED display which shows turn-by-turn notification with an LED light ring all around it.

The Garmin Speak is an Echo Dot-like device that sits in the dash of your vehicle and brings the full range of Alexa skills into the auto.

"Our vision is that the Alexa service will be everywhere our customers want it, including inside the vehicle", said Ned Curic, vice president of automotive at Amazon Alexa.

"The interaction between the two technologies offers drivers a truly unique opportunity to turn their words into actions while keeping both hands on the wheel", said Garmin's Dan Bartel.

Garmin Speak users can ask the always-ready device a multitude of requests that include news briefings, weather forecasts, sports stats, and traffic. Garmin says that the system can even be used to launch interactive games to keep passengers entertained. The device also can play music and audiobooks streamed through the vehicle's speakers. You can also use Alexa to remotely control smart home devices like lights, locks, and thermostats.

The device works alongside the free Garmin Speak app; it syncs with the phone running the app, utilizing the handset's own data connection and abilities. That means access to Alexa's skills as you drive, only this is in a tiny package that sticks to your windshield. The device is available now via Best Buy and Amazon for $149.99 Dollars.
