Noting that special counsel investigators are now reaching Mr. Trump's inner circle, CNN reported that sources familiar with the probe say Mr. Mueller is interested in possible obstruction of justice issues regarding the Comey's firing.
It appears the first indictments have started taking a toll on the White House - and, in turn, the Trump family - as Vanity Fair reports the president is placing the blame on Kushner for making some decisions, such as firing former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, which eventually led to the Russian probe.
The man responsible for the investigation, special counsel Robert Mueller, is widely being dubbed as Trump's "worst nightmare" and, perhaps, rightfully so as Trump's top aides' shady links with Russian Federation seem to be unraveling.
Mueller's investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 USA election - and whether Trump's campaign colluded with Moscow to influence the outcome - led to the indictments on Monday of Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and Manafort's past business associate Rick Gates.
Unnamed sources close to Trump's administration told CNN that to their knowledge, Kushner is not a target in Mueller's investigation. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released on Sunday put Mr. Trump's approval rating at 38 percent - the lowest for the survey since February, when he was a month into his presidency.
Nunberg echoed this sentiment in his conversation Tuesday with Sherman. "I'm only saying publicly what everyone says behind the scenes at Fox News, in conservative media, and the Senate and Congress". Another possibility, they warn, is that Bannon could be attempting to "hamper" Mueller's probe by delaying the White House's responses.
Meanwhile, Jared himself remains a focus of Mueller's Russia investigation and was questioned by Congress about his contacts with Russian officials during the presidential campaign.
Kelly, the White House chief of staff, has acknowledged that the investigation has taken its toll on the president. Would Ivanka decide to give up her high-profile government job in solidarity with her husband?
"Jared is the worst political adviser in the White House in modern history", Sam Nunberg, an associate of Stone who was a Trump campaign operative, told Vanity Fair.
