West Ham boss Bilic: I don't know if I can do this

To further rub salt into the wound, two corners brought two Liverpool goals in the space of three minutes, the first of which arrived following West Ham's own attacking set-piece.

However, it is unlikely the 25-year-old will feature from the start as the Reds take on West Ham, with boss Klopp stating in his pre-match press conference that a cameo appearance of 20-25 minutes was more likely.

But Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted with his team's showing. "I know they are working hard, it's not about the effort, they are trying their best but it's not enough at the moment". Mane played to the left and Roberto Firmino led the line, which resulted in Salah playing as number 10, theoretically bridging the gap between midfield and attack.

Mane lasted 77 minutes despite having had only two training sessions, while Georginio Wijnaldum lasted the full game despite looking certain to miss the match with an ankle knock.

West Ham came close to making it 3-2 in the 62nd minute from a free-kick from the left by Lanzini, but Javier Hernandez's flicked header went inches off target.

The win shoots Liverpool above Burnley into 6th, level on 19 points with the Clarets and Arsenal, who play Man City on Sunday.

However, hope for West Ham lasted just 55 seconds.

Some key wins have kept Bilic in a job, but the manner and nature of the first half collapse to Liverpool has enraged West Ham fans.

The Hammers dropped to 17th, with just a point separating them from the relegation zone.

The hosts did, admittedly, hit the post at 0-0: a deflected pass ran through to Andre Ayew in the inside-right channel and his dink over Simon Mignolet struck the outside of the goalkeeper's near post.

Salah took his tally to seven, one fewer than Premier League top scorer Harry Kane, and was joined on the scoresheet for Liverpool by Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Bilic at least has a ready-made plan B. At half-time, Andy Carroll was thrown on for Fernandes in a 4-4-2 and straight from the kick-off, West Ham launched the ball towards him.

And speaking after Liverpool's victory at the London Stadium, Oxlade-Chamberlain vowed to continue to improve. It's the second in a row at home.
