Court records show 26-year-old Misty Spann of Duncan pleaded guilty Tuesday in Stephens County District Court.
Her mother, Patricia Ann Spann, 44, has pleaded not guilty to incest.
And when they married in 2016, Patricia Ann allegedly convinced her daughter they weren't breaking the law.
Stephens County court records show that the mother-daughter marriage was annulled October 12, six weeks after Misty Spann filed a petition asking for an annulment "by reason of illegality and fraud".
Patricia Spann said that she didn't think the nuptials broke any laws because she was no longer listed as a parent on her daughter's birth certificate. In 2008, Patricia also Wednesday one of her sons.
Their marriage didn't come to light until a Oklahoma Department of Human Services child welfare investigator did an inquiry that led her to believe that the couple was having an incestuous relationship, according to Tulsa World.
The mother, who reportedly was once married to her biological son as well, is set to appear in court in January 2018 to face her charges. According to an affidavit, Patrica told police she and Misty "hit if off" after reuniting.
She reportedly said her mother told her she had received legal advice indicating that their marriage was legal.
Authorities uncovered their relationship during a child welfare investigation five months later. In the complaint, Misty stated that her mother "consulted with three separate attorneys who advised there would be no problem with the marriage". Her probation is the type known as a deferred sentence. "When I went to school with her, she had a girlfriend, and they both worked at Sonic".
Incest in the U.S. state of Oklahoma is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. "Why would you want to be with one of your own kids?"
According the NBC affiliate in Oklahoma City KFOR, in September 2016, Patricia and Misty Spann were arrested for incest.
