OnePlus 5T, Samsung Galaxy S8, or LG G6? [Poll of the Week]

OnePlus has unveiled Android 8.0 Oreo bases OxygenOS 5.0 for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T smartphones.

Those who have been holding on to their OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T devices are in for a pleasant surprise, their handsets are all set to receive the Android Oreo update.

Highlights include "Parallel Apps", which is a feature that lets you clone certain apps so you can log in with more than one account. The LG G6 launched for nearly $700, and since then we've seen it go for $470 on Amazon, $288 on Verizon, and $399 if you have an Amazon Prime membership. This is the last firmware update released for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones.

As the OnePlus 5T is released worldwide, we've discussed the lifecycle of each OnePlus device - and the software updates therein. "The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we'll begin a broader rollout in a few days". There is also a Face Unlock feature, which the company claims uses over 100 facial features identity points to unlock the smartphone in 0.4 seconds. But, it's great to see old phones like the OnePlus 3 and 3T receiving the latest OS providing intuitive user experience. Curiously, the more recent November security patch is not being made available. The new security patch offers more security to your device from the threats and hackers. As Oreo is a relatively new update for the community, the team wanted to ensure it seamlessly worked with the hardware used in the new smartphone. Of course, the OnePlus 5T also got a bit of a price bump, now starting at $499 instead of the OnePlus 5's $479.

Back in June, OnePlus promised that Android 8.0 Oreo will make its way to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, and now it's making good on its word. You can manually download and update your phone from there.
