Fans of the series will have to wait until next year's release date to get their hands on the game, but Shacknews will keep you posted on any news from SEGA about Valkyria Chronicles 4 as it breaks. According to Mikami, Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be a "proper evolution that returns to [the series'] origins".
Just like its predecessors, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is set in an alternate version of the 1930's during the "Second European War".
Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be available on PlayStation®4, Nintendo Switch™, and Xbox One™ platforms in the Americas and Europe in 2018. In case you're curious, this year's Valkyria Revolution is set in an alternate reality to the Chronicles games and has a different gameplay style that should not be considered representative of the gameplay expected from the new title.
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has new details on the newly announcedValkyria Chronicles 4. It'll also bring back its blend of turn-based strategy and first-person shooting the series is known for. No release date for the Xbox One version was given for Japan, and the US release for all versions was only confirmed for some time in 2018. As a last-ditch attempt at capturing the Imperial Capital, the Federation decides to initiate Operation Northern Cross.
But this game focuses on a totally new aspect of casting main characters, as said by the Sega in a press release.
Players will be taking command of a young and eager soldier called Commander Claude Wallace, heavy weapons extraordinaire Riley Miller, ace sniper Kai Schulen, hotheaded Darcsen Raz, and more.
