Earlier this year, HTC confirmed that it will update the HTC U11 to Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of the year with rumors hinting that it's in final stages of development.
Once the update arrives, the Sony Xperia X Performance will get all the Oreo-centric features. Of course, the new version of the software will not reach every unit at the same time so some users might have to wait another few days to get the latest version of Google's operating system. These features include Smart text selection, Auto-fill, Picture-in-Picture mode, new Quick settings design and more. There is also Android security update for November 2017 to fix some of the major existing vulnerabilities and bugs. The HTC U11 Life came with an Android 8.0 version out of the box for all global markets besides the USA market. As soon as we get some details on when it will land, we will let you guys know.
The announcement comes via HTC's Mo Versi, VP, Product Management, on his Twitter account. The U11 runs a almost stock version of Android 7.1.1 and has some pretty powerful internals (such as the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB RAM and 12MP rear camera) along with some useful gimmicky features (such as the "squeezable" Edge Sense and multiple AI-based assistants). Running HTC Edge Sense user interface, the handset comes with 8 sensors on the sides to register the squeeze.
Sony Xperia XZ and XZs were one of the successful launches of Sony which is packed with powerful features like 3GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage, Snapdragon 820, Quad-core Kryo CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU.
