A 17-year-old Florida teen who had gone missing from her home almost a week ago has been found in NY, the law enforcement officials said on Friday (1 December).
Rian Rodriguez, 27, was taken into custody without incident.
According to Fox News, Frisina's father said that Rodriguez was a family friend and there were no indications that his daughter would leave with him.
"I know that she to some degree left on her own. But I absolutely believe that she was lied to and totally misled", her mother, Scarlet Frisina, told CBS News, earlier on Friday.
Rodriguez had not been arrested or charged late Friday, according to NY state police.
Detectives from Florida are scheduled to arrive in Syracuse on Saturday to continue their investigation.
A missing child alert had been issued for Caitlyn Frisina. The teen's phone - which had been completely erased - was left behind, authorities said.
Caitlyn Frisina and Rian Rodriguez, 27, were the center of a nationwide search that ended after 4 p.m. Friday when they were pulled over by a New York State Police officer who spotted the red Mercury Sable the pair were believed to be traveling in, authorities said.
Authorities did not disclose any information about Rodriguez or his whereabouts.
According to First Coast News, Rodriguez was a coach for the boys' soccer team at Fort White High School.
Rodriguez and the teen had been around each other "at sports events, but they've never been alone at all", Smith said.
