The first National Cookie Day was celebrated in 1987 when Matt Nader of the San Francisco-based Blue Chip Cookie Company said that having a day to celebrate cookies would be fun, much like having a day to celebrate secretaries. The event can be found in the 1980s "Sesame Street Dictionary", which was also published in the 1980s. Ten runners up will receive Holiday Cookie Tins filled with the brand's signature DoubleTree Cookies. Go here to find a location near you.
The Mega Cookie is being touted as the chain's "most anticipated innovation in 40 years": It's an oversized chocolate chip cookie that's almost three times the size of its most popular and best-selling item.
