"We want to unite the society, but he wants to divide it", Sibal said.
Speaking on the same, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "As a lawyer, Kapil Sibal can argue any matter but he should not forget that he has been the law minister in the past". "I was never a Sunni Waqf Board lawyer". I request the PM to be a little more careful before making such public comments. In a statement to news agencies, Haji Mehboob, a litigant, said he was a member of the UP Sunni Wakf Board, and that Sibal was "our lawyer", but that his plea in court was "wrong". This clarification comes after both PM Modi and Amit Shah attacked Kapil Sibal for trying to delay the hearing and demanded Congress party to make their stance clear.
The prime minister added that every six months there were elections in one place in the country or another. Regarding the entire controversy, Sibal said that, " Will discussion on my going to the court & representing someone solve serious problems in the country?
"We believe in the Lord, we don't believe in you (Modiji). The Ram temple in Ayodhya will be built only when the Lord wants and the courts will decide and not Modi", he also said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday welcomed the statement from the Sunni Waqf Board that the pleading made by their counsel Kapil Sibal in the Supreme Court to defer the hearing on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute till 2019 was "erroneous"."You tell me what 2019 general elections have to do with Ram temple at Ayodhya", Mr Modi asked the gathering."I congratulate Sunni Waqf Board, I am also grateful to them".
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board, an influential body representing Muslims, however, backed Sibal and said this "is not the right time to take up the matter for final hearing". "You want to stop the hearing of Ram temple (issue) in the name of elections", Modi told a well-attended election rally at Dhandhuka in Ahmedabad district. "You want to keep the issue unresolved for political gain and losses in the elections?"
One of the appellants in the title suit, Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board earlier today said it wanted speedy justice in the case and was not in favour of shifting the hearing till after the 2019 general elections.
He asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi to take a stand on the Ramjanamabhoomi matter. The elections in the country are being fought by the Congress party.
