Musk Mucks Up DM, Shares Digits with 17M Twitter Followers

Although Musk quickly deleted the tweet, many of his millions of followers and journalists were able to grab his phone number.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, the private company that does space stuff, a man who should probably be nationalized for the sake of humanity, made a mistake. In January 2015, Musk tweeted photos of a SpaceX drone-landing ship at Carmack and said his motivation was to get the programmer back into aerospace technology, TechCrunch reported at the time.

Musk Tweeted, 'Do you have a sec to talk? And his message immediately raised speculation about just why he was giving Carmack his personal cell phone number.

We've all done it: Musk appears to have accidentally sent a message as a Tweet, rather than a DM, to gaming legend John Carmack, who now works at VR firm Oculus. After all, Tesla makes some of the most high-tech cars on the road today.

The Sacramento Bee also called the number, but it had apparently been disconnected.

Have you ever mistakenly tweeted something that you meant to send as a direct message?

Oh, and that message, in case you want to hear what Musk had on his cell phone, can be heard by dialing 1-800-613-8840. You might, though probably not, find a friend in him. Or, perhaps, Musk is trying to get back into the video game business.

Elon Musk shared his phone number with the chief technology officer of Oculus on Tuesday - and 16.7 million Twitter followers.
