Florida State is playing in a bowl it's not eligible for

Honestly, this has nothing to do with anything that Florida State did wrong.
Southern Miss: The Golden Eagles came into the game averaging the fourth-fewest turnovers in Division I (8.8 per game) but committed a season-high 19 against FSU. OR head coach Willie Taggart was hired to replace Fisher, but interim head coach Odell Haggins will lead the Seminoles in the bowl game.
The Florida State Seminoles have surprisingly only lost one game so far during the 2017-18 season, as they recently fell to the Oklahoma State Cowboys by just one point.
FSU's 77-6 home win against Delaware State on November 18 should not have counted towards the Seminoles' bowl eligibility, according to a report from Reddit College Football. As the number of bowls also grew, the NCAA allowed FBS teams to count a victory against an FCS team toward six-win bowl eligibility if that FCS team had used 90 percent of its allotted scholarship money. When this game was scheduled earlier this year, the Hornets may have been at that 90 percent mark (or 56.7 scholarships for non-math majors) and they may have been at the start of the season before suspensions, dismissals or transfers that happened over the course of a year.
Officials from Florida State, the ACC and NCAA did not respond for comment, McMurphy said.
Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher left for Texas A&M prior to the regular season finale against Louisiana-Monroe.
The rules of bowl eligibility in college football are relatively straightforward, but sometimes six wins do not count as six wins.
A report by Reddit indicates that Florida State is not technically eligible to compete in the Independence Bowl. "We're continuing preparations for our game".
"It's too late to do anything now, they'll still play in the game", a bowl industry source told McMurphy".
Florida State interim coach Odell Haggins discusses the hiring of new head coach Willie Taggart's hiring on Friday.
"He's doing exactly his job, and I feel like he wants to implement a relationship with the players", defensive tackle Walvenski Aime said.
"I have no doubt a waiver would have been granted" to Florida State, Dannen said.
But a Reddit user has taken a closer look at Florida State's bowl eligibility this year, and poked a big hole in it.
