In the clip, taken from his upcoming Netflix special Equanimity, his third streaming special in a year, Chappelle directly talks about "poor whites" who elected President Trump.

"I must tell you, I've never had a problem with white people ever in my life, but full disclosure: the poor whites are my least favorite".

"My parents did just well enough so that I could grow up poor around white people", Chappelle jokes in the latest trailer.

Netflix announced in November that it had signed a blockbuster deal with Chappelle to headline three stand-up specials. Trump released a new tax bill in recent weeks which would lower taxes on corporations and the wealthy. Chappelle has slammed Mr. Trump in the past.

Chappelle then says in the bit: "I'm standing there, thinking in my mind, 'You dumb motherf--ers. Poor. He's fighting for me'".

Equanimity is the third in Chappelle's Netflix series and will be available in the United States from 31 December.
