This old Hue Jackson press conference is even sadder in retrospect

"I never said I could swim", Jackson said of what to expect for his lake jump.
"I think what we have seen in this building from Hue is a man who is an excellent leader, a great teacher, a great coach". "I'm going to let him play through it". That's a credit to my linemen. "I think he's done a good job of keeping us motivated, keeping us playing hard", left guard Joel Bitonio said. I know me and I know these guys too well. I don't like to do it for the reason I am having to do it, but I have to make do on my word. "He does it well for us, but you guys are talking about a run that we all could have run through".
After the 20-3 loss, linebacker Christian Kirksey was asked about that and said that Jackson still "has the locker room". Jackson said he'd jump into Lake Erie.
"I got to", he said. It wasn't meant as a slight to him. "I made that statement".
Crowell acknowledged that the two were on good terms after they spoke. "There is nothing that anybody has said to me is making me feel differently". I do get that. I respect that there are many who don't feel that way.
Joe Thomas, the voice of the team, disagreed with the premise.
The Browns are a 0-15 and Kizer has thrown for 2,580 yards, nine TDs and 21 interceptions. "Jimmy has always been supportive, him and Dee", Jackson said. "They're 0-15.' Right? That's the easy story, but it's not correct". He cited the "grit" and "fight" as the foundation built over his two years and said the Haslams are willing to do whatever it takes to deliver the turnaround. The team hasn't won a game. From a wins and losses standpoint obviously, the plan for a few years here was to try to attain the highest draft picks possible which is what we have successfully done.
Unlike Johnson, who said Wednesday that he would love nothing more than to "start and finish his career here", Crowell didn't put it exactly like that.
Sunday, he set the Bears' single-season rookie record for passing yardage (2,015), erasing Kyle Orton's 1,869 yards set in 2005. I've been blessed to have the opportunity to do this. "But me and Duke's situations are totally different".
Jackson's second season has been a nightmare.
"I wanted the monster year, and just prove to everybody my value and what I can do to help my team, " he said. "I really thank them for that because I could not sit up here if I did not have their support". Cleveland lost in the 1965 title game to the Green Bay Packers, the last appearance in a championship game for the Browns organization. "We've just got to get through this phase".
