National Football League announces three enticing London 2018 matchups

Other games to be played in London next season include Seattle-Oakland on Oct. 14 and Tennessee-Los Angeles Chargers Oct. 21 or 28.

The Ravens made their worldwide debut this past September and they were thrashed, 44-7, by the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham, the Premier League runner-up last season, is building a new 60,000-plus capacity venue on the site of the White Hart Lane stadium that was recently demolished. Last year, the Mexico City game between the Raiders and Patriots was announced February 1.

This is a part of the NFL's International Series, which began with games in London during the 2007 season.

It's also a first for three of the teams.

Moving the Eagles game to London means Philadelphia will go 16 years between regular season visits to Jacksonville. "Nobody in the United Kingdom needs to worry about our commitment; [it is a] unique year for us". The games are part of the NFL's International Series, which celebrated its first decade a year ago. Both of those games will happen at Wembley Stadium.

This will be the Chargers' sixth game overseas in franchise history and second in the regular season.

The three games are heavy on West Coast teams. New York Giants in Berlin, Germany; July 1996 vs. Pittsburg Steelers in Tokyo, Japan; August 1999 vs. Denver Broncos in Sydney, Australia. That news was taken away from the NFL's announcement that the Jaguars will be "hosting" the Eagles in London next year.

"That's very important [playing three weekends in a row] it was one of the factors to play three games rather than four".

A return to London would likely have special meaning to Eagles running back Jay Ajayi.

Heading into 2018, five teams have not played in the International Series: Carolina, Green Bay, Philadelphia, Seattle and Tennessee.

The Jaguars will be targeting a fourth consecutive victory at their second home.

Signed in 2015, the deal with the National Football League brought a £10million contribution towards the stadium and should provide at least £1million a year in shared ticket revenues from this season.

Tickets details will be released on January 18.
