Cong clash at Rahul's function in Rae Bareli

Rahul Gandhi was slated to have reached Gauriganj from Musafirkhana, but the course was changed as local BJP leaders Ashish Shukla and Sudhanshu Shukla, along with large number of party workers, assembled on the Gauriganj-Musafirkhana Road in protest against the visit of the 47-year-old Congress MP.

Amethi (U.P.), Jan 16 (ANI): Congress President Rahul Gandhi met local families in Amethi and listened to their grievances.

Today is Makar Sankranti, and the auspicious day has been chosen by Rahul Gandhi to visit Rae Bareli - his mother's parliamentary constituency, and adjoining Amethi, which party insiders view as an attempt to play a soft Hindutva card to counter the hardline image of chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

His visit comes on the heels of the assembly election result in Gujarat, in which the Congress showed a much better performance from the last election in the state.

A poster war between Congress and the BJP also ensued on Rahul's visit.

The police had to intervene to separate BJP and Congress supporters. "(Rahul is the incarnation of Lord Ram; Rahul Raj will be seen in 2019)". "Not just potato farmers, vegetable growers, mint producers and cane farmers would have also benefited from the project that could have given employment to 10,000 people", Rahul said. While Another poster depicts Congress President Rahul as Lord Krishna with a message: "Sangharsh se Vijay ki or chal diye maharathi.(the warrior has begun the journey)". After the results were out, the Congress president prayed at the Somnath Temple.

Amidst big applause, Rahul promised to set-up the Mega Food Park in Amethi when Congress returns to power.

"The Gandhi family has been representing Amethi and Rae Bareli for nearly four decades now". "This is shameful that people who elected Rahul Gandhi to Lok Sabha wanted to meet him and were shooed away", Shukla said. After addressing a meeting at Tiloi, he will return to Delhi.
